Version 1.7 released: Free hostage quests
Today version 1.7 has been release. Features include improved procedurally generated buildings and the free hostage quest, along with many bug fixes.
- Improved building generator
- new slanted roof variations and T-shaped roofs. Better placement of roof details (chimneys, skylights etc..)
- more variety of building shapes and sizes, buildings with inner courtyard
- better furniture placement
- more building texture types
- generated hospital, workshop and prison buildings
- more building details: radiators, fuse boxes, pictures, boxes, cabling, etc.
- removed (nearly all) old hardcoded buildings
Free hostage quests
When Ben Dabi attack an enemy, they might surrender if they are outnumbered. In this case the survivors will be taken hostage by the enemy militia and this creates a hostage quest.
The hostage's friend will offer a reward in exchange for breaking them out of prison.
When your squad attack the village they can identify the prison where the hostage is held by the bared windows and locked metal doors.
Once the enemy militia detect your presence they will sound an alarm and will try to kill the hostages, so your team should try to get close to the prison as possible before they reveal themselves.
You can break the hostage out by blowing the door with a grenade.
You should try to protect the hostages as they try to escape - engage the enemy, so they can't kill the hostage as he flees.
Once the coast is clear the hostages will leave the scene.
When the battle is over, you can go back to the hostages friend and claim the reward.
Also, in this release many bugs have been fixed:
- used static area to control locked rooms and regenerate when door explodes
- take cover only takes effect if there are known enemy
- pick up task only cools off if picked up
- fixed bug where AI handle doors badly during move calculation
- if AI soldier is trapped behind door, he can now close the door to free himself
Notes:
Game saves are not compatible with previous version.
There is a issue with the MacOS version due to issues in the GLFW library. In full screen mode the screen may will be chopped off by a small amount. Also, performance may be poor - in this case you should de-select "highres shadows" in settings as a temporary workaround.

Hey Ed, I wanted to check out the hostage rescue feature. Is there a way to start a hostage rescue game without playing a whole campaign? Sorry, at the moment I don't have the time to play a whole campaign...
