Version 2.0: Quests


Today we are releasing Merc Tactics 2.0. 

  • The major new feature is a new quest system, which has been completely overhauled.
    • All previous quests have been incorporated into the new quest system and a defend/ attack quest has being added:
      • Zanata quest: recapture all Ben Dabi territory - Reward: Zanata rejoins team
      • Leonidas quest: increase reputation by aiding Ben Dabi militia to attack the enemy - Reward: Leonidis joins team
      • Hostage quest: free captured hostage  
      • Defend village quest: help Ben Dabi defend their village from immenent enemy attack
      • Attack village quest: Aid Ben Dabi raiding party to capture enemy held village
    • The reward for the hostage,  attack and defend quest can be a weapon, grenades, weapon attachments, cash , etc.
    • There are numerous hostage, defend and attack quests created dynamically during the game
    • The status of all quests are shown in the quest screen
  • There is a story line  revealed as the player accomplishes quests. Also, other useful tips are revealed.  The story line is important to finishing the game and helps the player defeat the enemy in the battles at the final stage. (Note: most of this is not available in the demo version of the game)
  • Improvements in Hostage quest
    • Better placement of prison. 
    • The hostages leave the battle scene once freed. 
    • Enemy only shoot hostages if alarm is triggered, or if they see them excaping. 
  • Enemy soldiers react when spotting the player's mercs - a visual indication that you have been spotted
  • Player's squad can manually enter a village scene from the village menu and prepare ambush for incoming enemy
  • The attacking militia always goes first in battles (except if there is already a battle taking place)
  • The player no longer deploys soldiers when defending village - instead soldiers will start in their previous locations. If there were no previous locations, then they start at random positions
  • Improved village layout;
    • More types of road layout 
    • More deployment zones 
    • Better textures 
    • Dead end roads. 
    • Better road sign placement
    • Better placement of guard posts in stronghold villages
    • Fixed problem with tree and grass textures
  • Some villages have a defense area, surrounded by wall. The AI will retreat to this area, if the AI retreat behaviour is triggered.
  •  The location of an incoming attack visually indicated by a red zone
  • 4K and QHD monitors are now supported
  • Improved multi-monitor and full screen support
  • Improved footstep sounds
  • Some AI behaviour improvements and bug fixes
    • unarmed soldiers move away from gun shot sounds
    • unarmed soldiers try to escape from battle scene
    • AI strategic retreat behaviour is triggered more often
  • Animation of receiving rewards
  • Increased difficulty levels. The easy level remains the same, but all others levels have increased in difficulty.
    • What previously was the hard level, is now the normal level, what previously very hard is now hard. And now very hard is really, really hard.
  • Nico or Zanata dying no longer forces the game to end
  • Enemy Overwatching status is displayed in the Info dialog
  • Enemy have less pistols in more advanced levels
  • You can now use the ESC key to stop a soldier moving along a path
  • Quickbattle has randomised equipment allotment
  • Ben Dabi expansion rate is better controlled

Wow, I have been waiting so long for this update! I am leaving on vacation now but I will definitely start testing when back home! Do You still provide the full game for testing purposes?
